Telling it like it is

Fantastic Family Holiday

We’ve just got back from our family holiday to Centre Parcs in the Lake District and I have to say we had a wonderful time! Centre Parcs really does cater for EVERYTHING a family needs it is incredible!

We only booked 3 weeks before we were due to go but we got a really prompt and efficient service, our welcome pack was sent out straight away with everything we would need including a map of the site, directions and a full list of the huge number of activities available. Whether you want to take it easy and just swim in the huge amazing pool or relax in the spa or throw yourself in to a host of activities from tree trekking, archery and watersports, there’s something for everyone.

As our little girl is still young we didn’t sign  up to any of the activities this time, but we did spend time in the amazing subtropical pool area every day. It’s huge! There’s a main walk in pool, which every half hour has a wave machine, then through to the right there’s a seated spa bubble pool with slide and a fab rapids area. To the left of the main pool is a brilliant kids swimming area with toddler pools, seats, watering cans and three slides! My daughter loved it and shouted “more”, “more” as she went down the slide. There’s lots of little pools / spas, an outdoor pool and four slides. Hours of fun! My little girl was worn out every time.

As well as amazing activities and a pool area there’s also adventure playgrounds, a man made beach, pedalo’s, a bowling alley and arcade, a kids creche and a sports centre with soft play, tennis courts, badminton, squash and a hole host more!

For meal options a well stocked supermarket on site sells everything you need to have a family meal in your lodge or BBQ on your terrace, but if you want to eat out day or night you can choose from an American Diner, an Italian, an Indian, French at Cafe Rouge, the Sports Cafe or the Lakeside pub. There’s also a Pancake House, two Starbucks and a sweet shop to mention a few more!

I loved the fact that from the moment you arrive you don’t need your car, bar unloading at your lodge it stays in the site’s main car park. This makes the main site really peaceful and very safe for children, all that’s on the roads are people and cycles (which can be hired and most people use). Our little girl could run around and explore and came across some fantastic wildlife from birds and ducks to stoats, rabbits and red squirrels, it all felt really liberating and relaxing.

There’s a main village centre in a huge glass dome building, where most of the restaurants, swimming pool, shops, creche etc are located. and this leads out onto a man made lake where a lot of the watersports activities take place. We spent a lot of time sat outside Starbucks in the sun with a Frappucino while our little girl slept, it was so relaxing.

The weather obviously really made the holiday but we are already planning our return visit, everything you need in one place? perfect!
