#Listography – Top 5 Things I Love About Kids

The lovely Kate at KateTakes5 has just released her latest #Listography and what a fab one it is too! She’s asking “What are the top 5 things you love about kids?”

Lets see…

1.) Innocence

The pure innocence that children have, the wide eyed wondrous stare as they see the world around them for the first time. The fact that they need and rely on those that love them so much. I love this, I love that my baby girl needs me and that I am helping to shape her world.

2.) Laughter

The contagious laugh that kids have. I love it, when you hear a baby giggle, you can’t help but join in and the more you join in the more they giggle. It’s beautiful and infectious, you could bottle it and it would be a best seller!

3.) Imagination

The mind of a child is a wondrous thing! They have invisible friends and can make play out of nothing. To watch a child as they play can be fascinating. The imaginative ideas they come up with is just fantastic. The fun that a kid can have with two dining chairs and a sheet is brilliant. It’s a cave, no it’s a cave with a bear, it’s a spy’s hideout, it’s a magic hideaway… it’s lovely and so cute to watch!

4.) Their Straight Forward Approach

I love the fact that kids say it like it is. I am sure it makes parents cringe when their little one comes out with something like “Mummy why does that lady have a beard?” for example but I can’t help but smile. It’s not funny for the person involved obviously, but it again shows the innocence of children. They don’t intend to set out to offend, but they are curious about the world around them and question it to understand it more. The fact that there are rules of right and wrong and etiquette really doesn’t mean a thing to a child, they just say it like it is.

5.) The Toddler Toddle

My little girl still has that funny toddler stagger, where balance is still being learnt and sometimes she appears to be on fast forward charging ahead with her body while her feet try to catch up. Friends and family love watching her and I have to say it is very cute, I could watch her for hours.

Listography – My 5 Fairy Godmother Wishes for My Daughter

So this week the lovely Kate at KateTakes5 has been wondering what would happen if her child had a fairy godmother and that fairy godmother granted them 5 wishes. What 5 wishes would she choose? With this in mind for this week’s #Listography blog hop she’s asked us what we would choose.

So here goes…

1. Health

Health would be a big wish for me for my little girl. Everyone wishes for a long and healthy life and having a disability myself that has deteriorated as I have grown up I wish a long, healthy and mobile life for my daughter.

2. Loving and Caring Nature

I am quite an open and tactile person. I wear my heart on my sleeve and care about the feelings of others and I would like my little girl to have the same attitude. I want her to respect and understand others and to be open and loving.

3. Intelligence

I want my child to do her best academically, I would never be overly pushy but I want her to be able to put her mind to something and to achieve things in life.

4. Patience and a Calm Temperament

I can have a fiery side to me and will often argue the toss if given the chance and admittedly I don’t always know when to shut up and back down. I can also get anxious easily. I want my daughter to be able to keep a level head and remain calm.

5. Courage

Whilst I want her to remain calm and be patient, I also don’t want her to be a push-over. I have been walked over many times in my life and haven’t always stood up for myself (despite my fiery side) and I regret this. I want my daughter to have courage to stand up for herself and for what she believes in and to never feel bullied or intimidated as I have.

Listography – My Top 5 Albums by a Male Solo Artist

I have to admit when I saw the challenge set by KateTakes5 for this week’s #Listography I was a little stumped as my brain just went blank and I literally couldn’t think! I am not a music fanatic. I like certain songs but am one of those people that never know who they are by and hardly ever by albums! Therefore I’ve really had to think about this one, but here goes!

My top 5 albums by a male solo artist:

1.) Robbie Williams – I’ve Been Expecting You

2.) Jamiroquai – Travelling Without Moving

3.) Michael Buble – Crazy Love

4.) James Morrison – Songs for You Truths for Me

5.) Bob Marley – Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers

Listography – April Goals – Part of KateTakes5’s #Listography Blog Hop

So this week Kate at KateTakes5 has set herself some short-term goals for April and challenged us to do the same. Perfect timing as I need a good kick up the butt and have been pondering a few things so here goes…

1.) Get back on the diet.

When I was younger I was always one of those annoying girls who could eat whatever they wanted and lived off takeaways whilst remaining a size 6 / 8. However as time has progressed my body has changed and I am now a lot more prone to putting weight on. Before I had my daughter I fluctuated between a size 10 and 12 and did diet a couple of times. However, since having my little girl I only need to look at food and I put weight on! I dieted after I had her and did so well, I was back to my 10 / 12 figure from being a 14 bordering on a 16 on the waist. However over Christmas and the winter I have admittedly slipped big style, stuffed my face and am now suffering. My clothes are tight and some I can’t get into as my stomach is bloated and flabby. It’s safe to say that my tummy has changed the most since the stomach muscles are shot to bits following the pregnancy and c-section. So I’ve got the heavy birthday month and charity coffee morning out the way and this month I pledge to get back on the diet wagon as a priority so I don’t have to hide all summer!

2.) Look up a web design course

I am the type of person that can never sit still and always have new ideas and things to try on my mind. For some time I have been wondering where my career will go post toddler time and have been asking the powers that be to give me some kind of direction. I feel that my blog has done just this. It’s made me really interested in social media, web design etc. At work I am voluntarily and temporarily looking after elements of our website and social media during a colleague leaving and a replacement starting and I am getting more and more interested. I have also seen several Online Marketing jobs repeatedly advertised and know from speaking to people in the field that applicants for these kinds of positions are low at the minute so with my Marketing Comms background this could be a new avenue I could take in future and by doing a course in this field it can only help me, even if just with my blog initially. So I pledge to look into this and hopefully sign up to an evening class.

3.) Go to bed earlier!

Since I have started blogging I am a nightmare I can sit all night and am then shattered when my alarm (or my daughter, which is more likely) wakes me the next morning. Therefore I pledge to try to go to bed a lot earlier!!! If you see me on twitter after 10.30pm on a school night give me a kick!!!

4.) Have more date night’s with my hubby

My hubby can work long hours and both of us can be glued to our computers when we are home so I pledge that we have one night every couple of weeks where we make time for one another, turn the computers off and have quality time together. This last week off for my birthday has made me realise how nice that is and we should do it more!

5.) Book some form of holiday for the coming months!

Hubby and I decided we’d like to do an early and late holiday of some kind this year (even though we probably can’t afford it!) But as usual we have talked about it and done nothing, probably to the extent that neither of us will be able to get any time off now! But I pledge to sort this by the end of this month and have a date in the diary so we can have some quality family time.

Well that’s my goals for April, hopefully I will keep them and I look forward to reading about everyone elses and hopefully get a little more inspiration! If you want to join in why not hop on over to KateTakes5 and link in?

1.) Lancome Hydra Zen Moisturiser – light, silky hydrating

2.) Clinique All About Eyes – Light and refreshing

5.) Aqueous Cream – simple, cheap, effective, keeps my skin well moisturised.

Top 5 Reasons I know I’m a Control Freak – Kate Takes 5 Listography

So this is the actual Kate Takes 5 Top 5 Listography for this week and it’s courtesy of the lovely Fab 40 Foibles.

This week the theme is “I know I am a… when” and is ours to choose what to do with so I guess I thought to what my hubby would say and my choice is “I know I am a Control Freak when…”

1.) I write lists galore, lists upon lists upon lists upon lists!

2.) I find it hard to let others do things and even when I do I can’t help checking back to make sure it’s done right!

3.) I really should go to bed earlier, I sit up most nights organising, doing housework and typing blogs when it can realistically be left

4.) I can’t leave jobs unfinished, we have to see them through to the end! My poor hubby hated my nesting period… can you imagine!!!??? lol!

5.) I am always looking for new things to do, places to go, courses to potentially try, holiday’s you name it my mind never switches off!

OK so I can’t deny it, I’ve had to be honest with myself here. I may just be a tiny bit of a control freak!

1.) The book that has been my bible this week with my Yummy Mummy Coffee Morning – the Cupcake

2.) Delia’s Complete Cookery Course

3.) Instant Cooking

My KateTakes5 Listography – Photos That Sum Up My Week

As a list loving girl I am LOVING Kate Takes 5 Listography Blog so just have to get in the action!

This week’s topic courtesy of Kate – 5 Photos that sum up my week

Well this week I have been on a major organisation trip, it’s been non stop!

I am organising my Yummy Mummy Coffee Morning in aid of CLIC Sargent so have been confirming attendees, chasing up raffle prizes and writing ‘lists’ (see I love my lists!) of what I still need to do! My event is next Sunday and I have somewhat escalated my original plans from a handful of mummy friends over for a coffee to a wider invite to all my lovely local friends, stalls and a raffle! Mad? Yes! Will be worth it though! so this pic sums up that element of my week

I entered a competiton for my lovely mum to win a mothers day competiton and I found out she’s been shortlisted as a finalist so I’ve been letting all of her friends and family know to get their support so this pic sums up my mission to win!

I toook my little girl to a local arts session for preschoolers and we had fun making this lovely mask creation

In addition to my coffee morning I have having friends over for a Phoenix card party the following night (yes, I have already said I am mad!) so I’ve been organising that this week too!

So all in all I’ve been in organisation mode this week and I guess this last photo sums it up totally… I’ve been surgically attached to my laptop!

My aim for next week – get a life and relax!!!!!
