How My Child Sees Me

I was on Facebook recently and saw KateTake5’s meme post about “How My Children See Me” and the picture her son had drawn made me chuckle! I then logged on to Twitter to find she had actually tagged me in the same meme.

I was intrigued to see what my daughter would do so got out the pens and handed one to her, as at the minute due to age we just scribble all over the page and our work doesn’t quite appear to resemble anything. However I had to laugh at her first attempt, total scribble but as you could say it’s an abstract attempt at me in my current pregnant state! A head, huge boobs and a huge bump! lol!

What do you think?…

So now I am intrigued as to how other mummies are seen by their little ones.

I tag some of my lovely new tweeps to find out more about them:

Beautiful Blogger Award

Well I haven’t been about for a while as you know but I was thrilled when I logged on to Twitter the other night to find that the fabulous Tea & Biscotti had nominated me for the Beautiful Blogger Award. A wonderfully kind gesture and a hugely appreciated one when I have been AWOL for a short while too!

She very kindly nominated me for the following reason and I have to say it made me feel so special:

“Because somehow she always seems to put everyone else first! Read CJ’s many posts on charitable affairs, this is one about Syria is astonishing.”

So, to pass the baton to other very worthy bloggers I have to nominate six people and then share ten things about myself that you, my favourite reader, would not know.

So I nominate:

Love From Mummy – for writing fabulous blog posts and being such a friendly, caring and helpful blogger

Hollybobbs – For being a fab and friendly blogger with a great blog

Mrs Jones – For a brilliant blog and for being a friendly, kind, caring and helpful blogger

The Crumby Mummy – For a wonderful and inspiring blog and for being such a friendly and caring blogger

MissusWolf – A wonderful, friendly and aspiring novelist who already has a fabulous book, The Ruby of Egypt which you must check out

Ready Steady Mummy – Brilliant, heart felt and thought provoking blog posts and a wonderful friendly blogger

And now for ten things you probably don’t know about me:

  • I’ve got two degrees
  • I LOVE chinese food
  • I have one leg shorter than the other!!!
  • I am slightly obsessed with the Olympics and have been glued to it from start to finish!
  • My guilty crush is Chris from ‘Show Me Show Me’!
  • I’ve an interest in mediumship, clairvoyance and all that kind of jazz
  • According to my husband I am organised chaos, as I am extremely organised, but with it I can leave a wake of chaos and clutter! lol!
  • I gained grade 8 in my London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art exams
  • I’ve been a Brownie, Cub and a Scout!
  • I am petrified of wasps and have a fear of heights!

See it Snap it Love it – Candid

I am thrilled to have been chosen as Photo of the Week in See it Snap it Love it hosted by the lovely Lucy across at Dear Beautiful Boy for my Peace and Quiet entry.

Thank you so much I am very chuffed! *Doing a little dance around the room*

So now I have calmed down from my excitement it’s on to this week’s theme….

Well I have to admit I struggled on this one but looking through my pics it just had to be this…

simply known to us as ‘The Scream’!

Want to join in? why not hop on over to Dear Beautiful Boy and share your pic?

The lovely  Love From Mummy and Hollybobb’s are once again hosting the fab linky that is Pretty.Little.Things and this week’s theme is Funky Footwear.

I IMMEDIATELY again knew which picture I wanted to share and it just HAD to be this one taken a few weeks ago…

It was a red hot day and my daughter opened her wardrobe, found these boots and INSISTED on wearing them! She had a denim dress on and it looked hilarious!

Then when she climbed in her old bouncer, that she is now a bit big and we had actually got it out for her baby cousin,… well it just looked even funnier!

Kids really do make you smile!

If you want to join in Pretty.Little.Things it’s being hosted this week across at Love From Mummy’s blog

The Gallery: Hands

This week’s The Gallery theme over at Sticky Fingers Blog is “Hands”

I have to admit, I didn’t really have to think much about the photo I would share, I knew instantly…

This photo was taken on our wedding day, it was our first drink as husband and wife, symbolising the celebration of our new life together.

What  do your hands say?

#PrettyLittleThing – Calming Comforters

The lovley Lisa at Hollybobb’s and Love From Mummy are once again hosting the fab linky that is Pretty.Little.Things and this week’s theme is Calming Comforter.

My daughter has two bunny comforters that have been with her in bed since almost day one. They are there waiting for her every night and I always have to have a chat with them about what she’s been up to that day and check that they are going to give her big kisses and cuddles to help her sleep. It’s like a little ritual, a bunny chat before bed!

This pic is only of one of the bunnies but it just makes me laugh. We went up in her room one night and this is how we found her!

If you want to join in Pretty.Little.Things it’s being hosted this week across at Hollybobb’s blog so why not “hop” over (excuse the pun) and join in!

Pretty Little Things: My First Photo

This week’s Pretty Little Things theme from the lovely Love From Mummy is ‘My First Photo’ so I thought I would share one of the first pics taken of my lovely daughter when she was born.

As I had to have a c-section hubby returned to our room with our little girl while I was “sewn up” and the lovely nurse took this photo after he had dressed her. I think it is so cute!

If you want to join in with this linky why not hop on over to Love From Mummy’s blog and share your “first” picture

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

If my daughter isn’t already awake I dive in the shower and try to get myself ready, normally she is awake at least as soon as I step out the shower (if not before) and I then go in and say hi to her and give her a cuddle, pop downstairs to feed the cats and get my daughter’s bottle. I then bring her into our bedroom whilst I finish getting ready (or get in the shower if I haven’t made it before then!) I HAVE to get washed first, I don’t feel right going downstairs in my pyjamas and having breakfast first.

Do you shower daily? Are you an early morning shower or evening bath type?

Yes, every morning

Do you wear make-up daily?

Yes pretty much most days. If I know I am not leaving the house and having a very very lazy day then I may risk it and go without!

What’s in your make-up bag?

Mac foundation, Lancome, Loreal or Maybeline mascara, Rimmel concealer, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, blusher, eyeliner pencil. I do have lipsticks but always end up losing them at the bottom of bags!

When you’re having a slummy mummy day what do you normally wear?

I never used to wear loungewear or tracksuit bottoms (EVER) till I fell pregnant, now I love coming home and changing into them. So comfy!

Nails – how often do you get them done?

erm… never really, not now anyway. Used to get them done every two weeks when I was 18 but not been touched since my early twenties! They occasionally get a lick of clear varnish

Your top tip for tired eyes?

Sleep! However I never take my own advice! I do love Clarins eye cream though

Are you a Starbucks or a Costa Coffee kind of girl?

Neither really but I did spend a fair bit of time in Starbucks on holiday with their Frappucinos so I guess I may swing that way.

How many children do you have/want & why?

I have 1, I guess I might like 2? I always envisaged myself with a little boy and a little girl but am now seeing two girls more (esp as I have a host of clothes and pink things!)… who knows what will happen…

Where is your favourite place to shop for babies/children’s clothes?

Next or supermarkets, they have some beautiful bargains

Flats or heels? Your everyday shoes are…?

Small heel

“Being Pregnant” Meme

I have been invited by Lynn from Babysteps to take part in the fabulous “Being Pregnant” meme started by the curious Trinket of Treasure! Perfect timing as I have just been posting my Pregnancy story so it’s all very fresh in my mind once again!
  • We are a very curious bunch, so please answer the following questions in as much depth as you dare.
  • Invite three or more women and link them to your blog post. Invite as many mothers/ expecting women you know to participate. But please remember you don’t have to be invited to take part. THE MORE THE MERRIER! x
  • Leave a comment about what you think of this meme and a link to your blogpost HERE
  • For lovelies that have been pregnant more than once, answer the question in regards to your first pregnancy.

What was your first reaction when you found out that you were/are pregnant and why do you feel you reacted in that way?
I was in total shock and a little freaked out if totally honest. We had decided to try for a baby in the new year but I didn’t expect to be reading a positive test by the end of the second week in January! I knew I wanted a baby but I think I was just stunned as to how quickly it happened!
What major changes did/does being pregnant bring to your life?

It made me think about my career and what direction I wanted it to take. We had to clear out our “office room”, buy more storage and reshuffle a few things in the house! It affected my hips and back, which meant that I spent most of my pregnancy on my crutches. I was an emotional fruit loop! I discovered heartburn for the first time!

What did/do you like or enjoy about being pregnant the most?

I felt so special, like part of a unique club! I loved my bump and couldn’t stop rubbing it. I adored feeling my baby moving and squirming around (despite thinking I would be freaked out by that!) Having Lovely thick bouncy hair that I didn’t need to wash every day!

What did /do you dislike the most about being pregnant?
Sore hips, legs and back and limited mobility. Frequent toilet trips. Heartburn / Indigestion. Insomnia. Fainting! Not being able to have Pate, Brie or Seafood!

What are your overall thoughts and feelings on being pregnant?

I  really enjoyed being pregnant, despite the annoying side effects. I just felt special!
So now I’m done, all that is left is to invite some lovely ladies to take part!
The lucky individuals are:
Love From Mummy
The Crumby Mummy
Tea & Biscotti
