How Do You Find The Time?

on April 5, 2012

So the lovely Dolly Daydream over at Sex, Drugs, Rocker and…Stroller, baby has tagged me in her first meme entitled “How do you find the time?” I am very honoured to help her start this meme off.

Here are the rules:

  • When answering the questions, please give as much detail as possible!
  • Head on back and leave a comment on Sex, Drugs, Rocker and…Stroller, baby so she can keep track of the meme and as she unashamedly has said “totally steal your routine tips to make my world a happier place”. 🙂
  • Also if you want (and she’d really like you to!) add a little paragraph at the bottom to give a general summing up about your weekly routine!
  • Tag 3 or more people and link to them on your blog.
  •  Tweet tweet tweet #howdoyoufindthetimetomeme

Got it? OK, here are the questions… and my answers

How and when do you find the time to…

….do your laundry?

I grab and go! As I see the baskets piling up I bring them done, shove a load (or three) through back to back (if I am at home). I tend to do most loads on the days I am off work and by the time it comes round again I do it all again! I don’t know how men go through so many clothes, as fast as I empty the basket it’s full again! I must be a scruffy beggar getting lots of use out of my clothes!!!

….bulk ironing?

The ironing is a pain I HATE it! I tend to do one load of ironing in bulk once a week. I often pull the ironing board in front of the TV and just crack on. I hate it lying around, we don’t have a utility and it just makes the place look like wishy washy’s laundry!

….write a blog post?

I do this on a night once I’ve put my daughter down to sleep and / or any ironing etc! Occasionally I get time during the day when I am off and my little girl is having a nap. It’s probably why I am up so late and my SKY plus is almost full as I tend to be on here at the minute most nights!

….look after yourself…i.e. wash your hair, paint your nails, take a bubble bath etc?

Erm… yeah… that lovely myth! Lol! I don’t tend to pamper myself as much as I used to. Hair gets washed often on a night when hubby is doing bath time with our daughter so I can dry it before she goes to bed and not wake her. I’ll dive in the shower or have a quick bubble bath when she has gone to bed and leave the hair to dry au naturale. Sometimes, on one of my days off or at the weekend, if hubby is around I will take an hour or so to have a mini pamper when I first get up, a bubble bath, wash hair, shave the old legs etc but that’s not as frequent as I would like! Lol!

….spend time with your other half?

Sometimes hubby and I can be like passing ships, and other times we both sit on our computers doing our own thing so we are making sure we follow that age-old tradition of date night at least once every week or two at the minute to make sure we don’t get too consumed in our own hobbies! I just had a lovely week off with my hubby and it was fab and nice just to be together. We had a night out, pottered in the garden and sat in the beer garden putting the world to rights one afternoon, it was lovely.

….do fun stuff with your LO?

I make sure that on my two days off during the week we do fun things. I take her to an arts and crafts group, the inspiration for my #ArtAttackTuesday blog hop. We’ve also done baby signing, baby swimming and music groups and various other things whilst I was on maternity. I am hoping to get back in the routine of taking her swimming again too. On my days off we also play together, go out on her trike, read books, have play dates with other mums and sometimes go to our local soft play. I try to do either a morning or an afternoon activity and work her naps around it.

….spend time with family?

I try to see my parents and in-laws on weekends. My parents live closer to us so I can often get to see them most weekends if not every other and our in-laws at least once a month. My dad and mother in law are both about on one of the days I am off so sometimes I get to see one of them then too.

….socialise with friends?

That is harder than it used to be! Just have to be organised and diary catch ups in, in advance to make sure you actually manage to get time in! I have girlie meals out every couple of months or so with my different groups of friends. I’ve hosted play date coffee morning’s and evening card parties too, always a good way of getting together. I seem to be the social secretary a lot of the time, coordinating the efforts! Lol!

….prepare an evening meal juggling a baby/toddler bedtime routine?

Erm.. I am totally crap at this I do admit! I have a hubby who likes to cook and I take full advantage! On the days he is at work when tea time comes round we’ve either prepared something like a curry or spag bol in advance and I just re-heat it or I make a good old pasta bake or stir in sauce!!! Hubby does bath time when here, I then do bottle, bedtime and story and he makes tea. If he’s not here I just make my tea after I’ve put her to bed.

….deep clean your house?

I run around during my days off while my little girl is asleep trying to get the cleaning done but I never seem on top of it! I try to tackle downstairs in one go and then upstairs. I always seem to have piles of mail and laundry lying around. I HATE the fur that comes off our cats too. Drives me mad, as does the litter across the kitchen, I do love them but my house would be so much cleaner and require less work without, wouldn’t swap them though!

….do the food shopping?

We do our food shop online most of the time so either my hubby or I will do it when one of us is entertaining our daughter or when she has gone to bed. Hubby often gets days off when neither of us are here so I often leave him that task to do then! We are lucky to have a shop nearby that’s quite well stocked too so we can always pick most things up we need from there too if we need them.
