Review: Little Tikes Trike

on April 1, 2012

So it’s been a while since I reviewed some of our favourite items and with summer here I thought I’d take a look at one of our favourite summer items, our Little Tikes Trike.

I bought this Trike at a seconds store last year for my daughter’s first birthday and with a late summer we were lucky enough to get a few weeks use out of it and she loved it! Now we have been blessed with this beautiful early Spring heat wave I have once again got the trike out like many parents and we’ve been having great fun!

We have the 3-in-1 Little Tikes Trike in purple.

It’s a fantastic product that can be used from as soon as they can sit up right through the toddler years.

The first stage has a harness seat, parent handle and removable sun canopy to offer fantastic safety and protection for your little one. No need for them to be expert peddlers as you can manoeuver the trike using the parent handle (there’s even a nifty cup holder for drinks, perfect on hot days like we are currently having!) You can also lock the pedals so their little feet don’t catch.

Once your child has mastered the art of peddling you can unlock the pedals and just help them steer using the parent handle, which can then be removed fully once they have mastered the concept of direction and steering, to enable them to take control themselves.

In addition once they are confident and able to balance you can remove the safety seat element and just use the five point harness or non at all. Then they really are off!

There’s a great storage bucket on the back of the trike (perfect for if you have just popped to the shop!!!) The seat on the trike adjusts for different height stages meaning this really is a product that grows with your child.

Because various elements of the trike come apart it’s easy to take with you on a day out in the car (provided you have a deep enough boot), just remove the parent handle and safety seat / canopy.

My little girl loves it and whilst trikes can be expensive there are many deals to be found. I’d recommend a trike to any new mummy or daddy, you’ll get hours of fun and it also lets your little one feel a bit more free than just being sat in their buggy, adding that little bit of adventure to a trip out!
